ăn cơm

Something that we are really striving for is to bring our memories to you. Sitting around the table with my bà nội (grandma) and pops, or mom and little brother, were some of my fondest memories growing up.

So, we want to bring that energy and vibe to you, in your home.

As a first-generation American in my family, I grew up here in the States, mostly in California. I remember living with my bà nội for a few years in our home in the east side of San Jose. I also remember gaining quite a bit of weight during that time because that’s what grandmas do, right? What I really remember from that time though, is spending time with a very loving human being, and learning what dinner in our home really was.

I had a lot of family around growing up, which meant a lot of family meals. With all of my family on both sides within driving distance of each other, every weekend was expected to be at someone’s home having dinner. It was our way of coming together as a family, and making some memories from those times. My favorite of those meals were the times we call ăn cơm, where we sat around a table together with little bowls of rice and incredible entrees in the middle of the table. This is where I heard everything from the the drama within our family to the politics of the world. A place where we gathered to talk, enjoy each other’s company, and share a meal together.
